The “Rota-Rod” technique is essential in screening drugs potentially active, or having side effects, on motor coordination. Ugo Basile designed the original RotaRod, the first industrial Rota Rod almost 50 years ago, based on the 1957 paper by N.W Dunham and T.S Miya. The 47750 RotaRod NG (Next Generation), is an evolution of the original model and the result of many years of research in cooperation with the latest development in behavioral and pharmacological research.
Since then, our models have been cited in thousands of scientific papers. The name we coined soon became so popular, now everybody knows this devuce as RotaRod!
What’s new in the NG model:
Physically similar to the previous versions, it offers the same reliability, matched with innovative technology! The new model features stainless-steel trip-boxes to facilitate cleaning and confine the animals when they fall off the rod.

A brand new, user friendly software, is included as standard; via the new software, the operator can easily organize the experiment on her/his PC, and upload it to the Rota-Rod via the USB key. The software automatically classifies the data, combining configuration settings with test results; the user can add information, before or after the test. Results appear in a tree-like structure, where columns can be dragged and dropped to customize the layout. Configurations and data are exported as Text, Excel or Pdf reports and can be saved to cloud via DropBox, OneDrive, GoogleDrive.
The experiment can be set and results can be monitored, also via the 4”3 touch-screen.
Remote diagnosis and internet access are provided.
The 47750 combines the same functionality of the previous version, now considered the standard, with additional new features: surprisingly silent operation, much easier experimental organization and data management.

Plethysmometer 37140 displays the exact paw volume on the graphic LCD read-out. Small differences are detected by a transducer of original design.
The 37215 Analgesy-meter is the classic device to perform Paw Pressure experiments according to the Randall-Selitto method, The Ugo Basile original design dates back to the 1960s.
The Plantar Test Instrument (Hargreave’s Method) measures response to infrared heat stimulus, applied to the plantar surface.
The new Hot/Cold Plate NG offers a wide temperature range, presettable in the range -5°C to 65°C and is very quick and precise in reaching and keeping the preset temperature.
These well-engineered Metabolic & Diuresis Cages supply uncontaminated samples of effectively separate urine and feces of the rodent.
The Isolated Organ Baths have been designed for accurate recording of isometric or isotonic tissue contraction/release. Available as 1, 2, 4-channel turn-key systems (4000, 4050, 4400), used in classic pharmacology research and teaching worldwide since 1960s!
